09-12-27 Tag Challenge

Nicholas Kight
5 Challengers played on a gorgeous crisp December day, sunny, high of 47 with 5 to 15 mph breeze. Perennial number 1 tag holder, Nick Kight, trailed early after #6, Andy, and #8, Brian, jumped out to a one stroke lead carding 2s on hole one and everyone parred hole two. Nick rolled off 4 birdies to take the lead for the rest of the round carding a 48, 8 down. We played all concrete tees, from the top on hole 10, pins were in long on holes 2, 3, 5, 6, 9 (10 was in short-short in the woods), 12, 13, and 15 for a par 56.The battle for the #6 tag came down to the wire with Andy falling short by 2 strokes allowing Brian to win it with a solid 53, 3 down. Josiah won the #11 tag from Eric Naylor by shooting a solid 30 on the back 9 after trailing Eric by 2 strokes on the front. Highlights were Eric's long putt on holes one and for to save par, and 3 players (Nick, Brian, and Josiah) carding birdie 3s on hole 13, Nick and Eric birdied long hole 6 with 3s. In a bizarre turn of fate, we found the remnants of the Crown Royal event on hole 6 near the pin in the form of a 3/4ths full bottle of Crown Royal and a shot glass, which we put to good use for the remainder of the round. Cool Collar Bone Dan joined us walking and providing lively commentary from holes 3 through hole 17.
#1 Nick Kight 48 #1
#8 Brian #6
#6 Andy #8
#17 Josaih #11
#11 Eric Naylor #17
Don't forget Ray McClaughlin is foreman for a Course Appreciation/New Years Round on January 2nd to clear thorns on holes 3 through 6. Bring your gloves, rope and clippers!

Crown Royal XVII

From a string of emails (not necessarily in order) entitled: “Crown Royal XVII” - a special event at Kennett held on the winter storm of the century.
Steve Lienert :
You spelled "wuss" wrong. What I don't understand is how come you spelled it "JFK".
EGore:
Marc et al,
I am truly sorry I missed this blessed and historic event. It looks like you guys had a blast!! I am one of the unfortunate married wooses that could not get the approval to risk life, limb, frostbite and liver damage for a half day of fun, competition and debauchery...though like JFK the gates of paradise did remain open. Hats off to all you brave yet mentally challenged men, and to Nick and Keith for dethroning the champ.

2010 Course Re-Design
Sunday, 13 December 2009 16:32
Nicholas Kight
We've been thinking, talking, and planning the course re-design for a couple years now. Here is the result of our walk-through yesterday; this is not a finished design, just a starting point and what Ray, Josiah, and I agreed on. New and different ideas are welcome and encouraged.
In general, the design would work as follows: We would have the option of having a 20 or 18 hole layout without additional tee pads or pins (beyond planned). A true par 5 would be added to the front-nine, and in that layout the course would return to an even 9 hole front and back, furthermore, in that layout, there would be 3 new downhill tee shots, and finally an alt tee for 2 that would avoid the long walk down to the tee of 2. We include a middle tee for current hole 14 that can be used for an alternate for current 13 if the athletic fields are in use. All layouts would provide for beginner players with short tees.
