The Square's first road trip is now recent history and what a blast we had! Squares Tom P, John G, Randy K, and Greg R were joined by two Squares by association, Scott Ward and Owen Hileman for the trip south. We bolted the area on Friday afternoon and arrived at the home of Buckhorn tournament director Scott Anderson around 11:30pm. Many thanks Scott for putting us up for the weekend!!! While our results weren't great, we had a lot of fun! Tom P placed 14th in the Adv division and Randy K, playing his very first PDGA tourney placed 7th in the Int. division! The Buckhorn is a technical course set around Harris Lake recreation area. Sunday saw the wind kick into high gear with 35+ mph sustained winds coming off the lake. On the way home on Monday, we stopped to play the Grange in Virginia. We were able to get 1 1/2 rounds in before it got dark. It was a great stop to break up the 6+ hour drive home. Stay tuned for our next road trip, wherever that may take us.
The following weekend at Nixon, the Squares will be hosting the first of our informal monthly tournaments. Come out to Anson B Nixon park and check out a preview of the new course setup. We will be working on the course Saturday Feb 16th for a test run of the redesign of several holes. Feel free to come out and give us a hand, we'll be at the course all day! This is merely a dry run and by no means a permanent set for the future holes. The Squares hope to see as many of you out at the course on Sunday Feb 17th!!
