Hey everyone, there's loads of stuff going on at our host park, Anson B Nixon!!! It's been a while since we've given a heads up here but then again we've been at the course and not here online!!! Sorry for the delay!
First up is the Throw to Know Tournament
which is just around the corner on July 12th! Emily Genter has been working extremely hard behind the scenes and is putting together yet another great tournament! Anyone who had played the Throw to Know can definitely say it is a MUST PLAY event! The course is looking good for the tournament, the sponsors are lined up, the beer is secured, and the 3rd Annual Throw to Know to looking to top last year's money total. So get registered today!! This will fill up!!! As a reminder, the Throw to Know is a benefit event for the Autism Awareness! Many, many thanks goes to all that have put in loads of work on the course itself! The new holes are really looking good as the fairways have opened up. New holes of 8 and 9 are playing nicely. We've even had our first ace on hole #9 by our Course Pro, Boomer, during Tuesday Doubles Squares!! WOW.
Speaking of Tuesday Double Squares ...
We have seen many new faces at our weekly random doubles tournaments. As a reminder we have an informal doubles touney of one round when we pick random teams of two and play one round. Start time is 6pm every Tuesday night. Entry is $3 and we have an optional Ace pool and CTP (closest to the pin) for an additional $1 each. No need to bring a partner as we will pick teams by drawing 2 minis at a time for teams. The Squares welcome all skill levels and are beginner friendly! We have paid out 4 aces this year but none since early spring! The Squares pay $50 for aces as long as there is money in the pot! (Hey there's money in the pot!) Come and get it!!!! CTP prizes range from beer to discs and someone wins every week for this one. This past week we saw our biggest turnout of the season with 24 players!!! Way cool!

Course Improvements ...
New Discs In
Also in the news, we just received our second shipment of discs from Innova! We have tons of new plastic for sale including the latest and best discs available. Look for us at the course in the coming weekends as we will be out with our inventory for you to purchase. We have the newest XCaliber and Destroyer drivers as well as many others great discs in stock. Our disc sales are going well and proceeds will be going towards the improvement of the course.
Course Improvements
...and finally, concerning course improvement....we had a bit of a hiccup in May as many of you know, when two of our baskets were disassembled right off the pole. We were able to to get the course playable rather quickly thanks to the park and also Whitey (HUGE thank you), who was gracious enough to loan us his personal basket. We appreciate all the help and concern we've received and would ask that if anyone has information concerning our missing baskets that they contact our club members. I have personally secured 4 used baskets that will be installed after the Throw to Know comes and goes. As the Squares continue to move forward and proceeds from disc sales, monthly tourneys and weekly doubles grow you will see some cool changes to the course. We will be putting in second pin placements on several holes along with many other improvements. Our goal is to build one of the best courses in the region that is both beginner friendly and challenging for seasoned players. So stay tuned or better yet come on out and give us a hand!!! After all it cool to be SQUARE!!!!
